Bennett IMPS cages were designed primarily for the larger birds and are rather non-conventional yet innovative in many ways. By providing an area large enough for them to actually fly, we were able to enter the cage and interact with them in their "space" creating an entirely different, behavioral response. This form of "role reversal" gave new meaning to the way we have caged our pets for so long.

Over the years I have had nearly every cage available. I decided to design and create a people and bird "friendly" sanctuary. One of the first things I did was to eliminate the tray, grill and apron and have a "walk-in" sanctuary.

Optional in all cage orders is an over-size sheet (or series of sections) of polycarbonate i.e. Lexan to be placed on the floor under the cage. This floor covering extends out beyond the cage borders by six to twelve inches and has radius corners to match the sanctuary. Rolls of waxed, water resistant paper are placed on one side of the cage and are pulled through under the cage to the other side. Total cleaning is complete in a couple of minutes and has never been so easy. Just pull the paper through, cut it off, and the cage is clean. All of our customers are extremely pleased with their cages, and one veterinarian said that she has never been able to clean and sanitize a cage so quickly and is totally pleased with how easy it is to maintain.

We have found that birds that have had a history of tearing paper in typical caging, tend to discontinue this practice in our cages due to the large amount of space and the feeling of freedom they now enjoy. Behavioral problems tend to fade away!

I realize our cages are rather unique to the way we have always thought of caging, and our mind-set has always been tray/grill oriented. However, the need to have an elegant, large, modular and low maintenance cage to properly house and maintain these beautiful creatures has been dictated by necessity and love.
